• Name and email address when you register
• Password (stored as a secure hash — we never store your password in plain text)
• Expense records, payment records, receipts, and child support information you enter into the app
• Communications you send through the app including expense comments

Information collected automatically:

• Device type and operating system
• App usage data and session information
• IP address and approximate location for security purposes

Payment information:

CoLedger does not store your payment card or bank account details. All payment processing is handled directly by Stripe and PayPal, which maintain their own privacy policies. We receive only transaction confirmation and status information.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
• Process and record financial transactions between co-parents
• Generate reports and documentation at your request
• Send transactional emails including payment confirmations and account notifications
• Maintain security and prevent fraud
• Comply with legal obligations

3. How We Share Your Information

CoLedger does not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise disclose your personal information to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We share information only with the following service providers who operate on our behalf:

• Stripe — payment processing (stripe.com/privacy)
• PayPal — payment processing (paypal.com/privacy)
• SendGrid — transactional email delivery (sendgrid.com/privacy)

These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and may only use it to provide services to CoLedger.

We may also disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.

4. Co-Parent Data Sharing

CoLedger is designed for use by two co-parents sharing financial records. Information you enter into CoLedger — including expenses, payments, and child support records — is visible to your co-parent within your shared family account. This is a core function of the Service.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal profile information is removed. However, shared financial records — including expenses, payments, and child support history — are retained to preserve the integrity of your co-parent's records. This is necessary given the legal and financial nature of the documentation CoLedger provides.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

• Encrypted data transmission via HTTPS
• Secure password hashing
• Token-based authentication
• Automatic session expiration after periods of inactivity

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

CoLedger is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately at admin@coledger.net.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your personal information (subject to our data retention obligations described in Section 5)

• Right to Opt-Out of Sale — You have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. CoLedger does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration. There is nothing to opt out of.
• Right to Non-Discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

10. Virginia Privacy Rights

As a Virginia resident, you have rights under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), including the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your personal data. To submit a request, contact us at admin@coledger.net. We will respond within 45 days.

11. Geographic Availability

CoLedger is intended for use by residents of the United States only. By using the Service you represent that you are a United States resident. If you are located outside the United States, you should not use this Service. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals outside the United States and make no representations that the Service complies with the laws of any jurisdiction outside the United States.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date and, where appropriate, sending a notification through the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
